A Tradition of Style Since 1978
Founded by George Konstantinou, a craftsman trained through traditional apprenticeship, the shop was built on something simple but rare — consistency, care, and genuine connection. From those early days, the chair became more than a service — it became a place where stories were shared, friendships were built, and generations returned.

Meet Margarita
With over 30 years of experience behind the chair, Margarita brings a depth of skill and care that only time can teach.
Trained across both hairdressing and barbering, she has developed a strong reputation for her precision in classic men’s cuts, with a particular mastery of scissor work — delivering clean, natural finishes that grow out beautifully.
Her experience also extends to blow drying and colouring, available on an appointment basis, allowing her to tailor each service to the individual.
But what truly sets Margarita apart isn’t just her technique — it’s her presence.
She believes a haircut should be more than just a routine. For her, it’s a moment to pause, reset, and enjoy good conversation. Whether it’s sharing a laugh, talking about life, or simply giving clients a break from the outside world, she creates an atmosphere that feels relaxed, genuine, and welcoming.
Outside the shop, Margarita brings that same energy to life — she loves salsa music, dancing, and laughter, and that warmth naturally carries into every interaction with her clients.
With Margarita, you’re not just getting a haircut — you’re getting an experience shaped by decades of craft and a personality that makes you feel at home.

A Cut Through Time
Perched along Wickham Terrace in Spring Hill, our shop is more than just a place for a haircut — it’s part of Brisbane’s living history. In the late 1800s, this hill overlooked a growing city. Horse-drawn carts moved along the streets, and the breeze from the river carried through what would become one of Brisbane’s most iconic precincts. Wickham Terrace quickly became a place of prominence — known for its elevated views, fresh air, and a strong sense of community. Decades later, in 1978, that same spirit gave life to what is now Hair by George. Founded by George Konstantinou, a craftsman trained through traditional apprenticeship, the shop was built on something simple but rare — consistency, care, and genuine connection. From those early days, the chair became more than a service — it became a place where stories were shared, friendships were built, and generations returned. Over more than 40 years, the shop has quietly witnessed the transformation of Spring Hill — from a modest neighbourhood into a vibrant inner-city hub. Through it all, one thing has remained unchanged: the experience. Clients from all walks of life have sat in the same chairs — from young boys getting their first cut to lifelong regulars who’ve been coming for decades. Some come for the precision, others for the conversation, and many for the feeling of familiarity that’s hard to find elsewhere. Today, we carry that legacy forward. Blending tradition with modern style, we honour the past while shaping the present — one cut at a time.
